Here is an example of some MIG welding using silica bronze wire on 1/8″ 220 bronze sheet metal. I used a Millermatic 250 and .035 wire. Special thanks to Ron from Alamo Welding Supply in Austin and Mike from Miller. WARNING: Beware of fume fever with this metal. I accidentally got a few whifs and then felt really ill for a couple of hours. Symptoms were shortness of breath, hot/cold flashes, nausea, faintness, tremors. I had to lay down but thought I might have to go to the hospital for a while. Some ER doctors I know informed me there was nothing they could do anyways. So I pounded a 1/2 gallon of milk, laid down in the a/c, and took the afternoon off. This happened on the last day of the project and I had no problems the other six weeks I worked on it. Careful people.
